CAFC 2010
The CAFC 2010 Annual Fire Rescue Conference will be held at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa in beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica December 6 - 10, 2010. Our Hosts will be the Jamaica Fire Brigade lead by Commissioner Laurie Williams.
Saving Our Communities Fire services from across the Caribbean came together at the CAFC-sponsored integrated events to share best-practices and scenario based experience and to form a dynamic and active experience-base that will improve efficiency in ways that save lives, resources and property.

The protection of our communities is a region-wide responsibility which all of our members share.
CAFC FF Challenge 1 The first ever CAFC Firefighter Challenge was held this November 20th at the annual CAFC Conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The participants were chosen by their Fire Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs throughout the Caribbean and they began practicing months in advance. The CAFC 2009 Challenge proved to be an exceptional with highly engaged and interactive spectators to loudly supporting each of the 12 competing firefighters as they met the challenge of the five stations.
CAFC 2008 Conference At our CAFC 2008 Conference held in the beautiful Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Fire Chiefs and Deputy Fire Chiefs from around the Caribbean came together for training on  leadership, management and incident command.

The true value of such events is not only that our chiefs get great training, but also that they train together in ways which require them to collectively solve critically challenging real-world issues, contributing their individual experience to the whole group.
Airport Fire Service & HAZMAT Airport and refinery based fire services are unique in their performance requirements and breadth of potential challenges.

The likelihood of facing HAZMAT conditions are significant enough at airports and refineries that you always have to practice and prepare such that the certainty that you can minimize risk and loss becomes a mitigating function of disaster management.

CAFC Response to Haiti Earthquake Crisis

The CAFC tracked the Caribbean-wide fire service response to the Haiti Earthquake Emergency and key members of our CAFC organization deployed in support of Haitian needs. As a result of our participation and our close observations we have committed our 2010 focus to Disaster Management which we believe will better prepare us for our future response to emergencies and primary crisis in the future.

CAFC members often engage in significant aspects of Community Outreach

Every school child knows one thing, they want to be a Firefigher! And there is a reason that they admire our men and women... they know that these selfless members of our communities are going to be there no matter what and that they will professionally deal with emergencies no matter when or where they arise.

Our CAFC Members activley look for ways to reach the community, whether that is with informational programs, parade participation, School or Social visits...and many more tools and presentations too lengthy to list here. What is important to know is that our Chiefs are out there along with their men and women making a difference everyday.

Incident Command Training

One of the focal points for CAFC manpower and management development is the familiarization, development and engagement of formal Incident Command operations throughout our First Response/Emergency Response programs. We have begun the process of training all of our members, and through them our member-nations, on this critical command and control methodology.

LeadershipTraining is key to success in the field.

Are leaders born or can they be trained? While many of our Fire Chiefs have the natural capacity to truly inspire, we also believe that leadership is a formal process, and one where training can effecively bring our members, as well as our JOLA participants, to the forefront of their organizations. We also feel that ability to integrate our Fire Brigades during conplex emergencies demands that we are all well versed on the critical skills and elements of Leadership. CAFC is focused on this, and is finding new ways to ensure our success.

Management Training

Training is a critical element called for in all team structures and by the very nature of our work as emergency responders. The CAFC goals and objectives clearly identify the use of a formal management training process encompassing a wide range of training elements, including Administration, leadership, team building, technology and more. And as an organization committed to the development of our Juniors so that they are well prepared to fill our positions in the future, CAFC has fully committed its resources to the implementation of JOLA and all of the related programs needed to succeed in this endeavor.

CAFC IS A SELF-MONITORING BODY

...AND ONE OF OUR ADVANCEMENTS IS THE CREATION OF THE REGIONAL JOINT FIRE SERVICES REPORT. The purpose of this internally generated annual report is to provide a meaningful, detailed report to our growth and accomplishments to national and international administrators. In so doing we are keeping the organizations who count on us appraised of the leadership and skills delivered by CAFC locally, nationally and internationally.

Strategic Plan Development

Though the CAFC members represent one of the most professional bodies of Fire Science First Responders anywhere, we recognize that our nations vary significantly due to their locations, cultures, resources and overall development. To help to move each of our organizations forward we, as CAFC, are working to create a meaningful association that will help us to effectively reach from one island to the next so that we can truly make a difference. To ensure that we are successful CAFC is working through a detailed, and continuing process of Strategic Planning that will keep us on track as we strive to meet our goals.

INTEGRATING CAFC RESOURCES

One of the primary goals of the CAFC is to create effective organizational structure that each Member-Nation can adopt to ensure effective performance, both independently as stand alone Fire Brigades and as an integrated body when emergencies call for two or more member nations to pull their resources to meet the emergency response demands, regardless of the cause or impact.
